  1. I think it's worth noting, that Steams Proton (their version of wine) work right out the box with most MS Win-games, including Stronghold. You don't have to do anything special, except let your steam-account know you will be using Proton. You do so by going to Steams settings and choose "Steam play".
  2. I submit my work to Stronghold Nation today. It will up for download when approved. One great thing about this: I did everything myself, and don't owe anything to anyone! 😜
  3. Been working on a whole new AIV folder/mod for months, and probably spent more than 600 hours on it so far. More on the work on the AIV below. Need some testers for this AIV mod. I've made 8 new castles for each of the 16 characters, 128 new castles in total, and none of them are identical. There will be around 60 scenarios (30 from original trail and 30 from warchest trail) in total for you testers. I'll do the rest (some I've already done). I have a hard time doing it (everything), as I have Multiple Sclerosis, which - among other things - affects my ability to use the mouse (clicking at the right thing with the right button at the right time), my concentration, and my short term/working memory. That's also part of the reason why I've already spent so much time on this. You, the tester, will have to play some scenarios on the crusader trail and the warchest trail, and report of any problems you encounter. After attempting to fix the issue, I'll ask you to replay that particular scenario. You will not have to play the full scenarios, only enough for you to make sure that all castles behave ok, but they don't have to be perfect. You'll receive more detailed instructions if you want to participate. About the AIV mod, and how - and why - it was made: I did these 128 new AIVs to give players an opportunity the replay the trails at increased difficulty. My only goal(s) for the castles were to give them a stronger defence, and possibly also an improved economy. I feel I've succeded in that (have thoroughly tested all AIVs against the old AIVs and also against each other). I will claim success except for one character: Philip. Firefly Studios couldn't have done more to make the perfect "Artificial Unintelligence". I have not been able to change the behavior of the in-game characters (although it's possible with the unofficial patch, it would also warrant the user to install that patch). So only the castle layouts have changed. The only goals I had was stated above, so there's a lot of square boxes. Spectacular designs was not part of the assignment. There are a few different castles, especially Saladins, and none of the original castles have had any influence on these designs. No more weird designs (ex: rat and snake), but instead give all AIs the opportunity to build big square (european lords) and round (arab lords) towers with machinery (ballistas and/or mangonels). So all AIs have these now, and they all also use fire-ballistas. So they will definitely defend themselves better (with the exception of Philip), and maybe even become a threat to you. All AIVs have been testet to function with a 2000 gold start, which means they become quite aggressive really fast if they're give more gold to start with, which often happens in the trail scenarios. 4. Hi again! You're very welcome to delete the (unfinished) gmail-connected account, which I have never used. Didn't even know it was still on record, as I never completed the registration. Only reason to try make a new account was because I had forgotten my pwd, but I found it in a file on my pc and then terminated the registration of the gmail-account. I had no intention of breaking any rules. Thanks again!
  5. Hi Lord_Chris! I know about my location and my failed log-in attempts. That happens sometimes (not necessarily here at SN), as my multiple sclerosis has damaged my short term memory. So I get pretty upset whenever a site demand that I change my pwd. I don't have a permanent IP-address (makes my pc more secure and doesn't cost extra), so the almost identical adresses is ramdom assigned by my ISP. It's correct that I use Linux, but the browser is not Chrome, although it's based on Chromium. It's Vivaldi (the successor to the old fantastic Opera, as opposed to the new Opera s**t, which is just as bad as Chrome). I was under the impression (as the email from SN doesn't make that clear - see above), and I had no idea that the imcomplete account had anything to do with this. If it's about that, then never mind it all. I'm only concerned for the user account I'm using for this post. So no need to spend any more time time on the matter. Thanks anyway! P.S. I still feel someone was trying to "hack" my account according to this https://techterms.com/definition/hacker !
  6. Hi team! Dunno if this is the right forum, but I'll try anyway. On 10. august I got the following email from SN: "Hi ,We have detected 3 failed log in attempts to your account from Chino, California, 91710, United States. If this wasn't you, someone else may be trying to access your account. These log in attempts were unsuccessful. You may however want to change your password for greater security, especially if you use the same password on other websites. If this was you, you can safely ignore this email and you will be able to sign in again at 09/08/20 19:59. " I didn't think much of it, as nothing happened and I feel that my pwd is pretty good. But today I got an identical email from SN. Seems like the same person is trying to hack my account again. I don't know anyone in California, and therefore I cannot imagine that this person knows me. So, has this guy just targeted my account, or has other member account been under attack from him/her? In either case, do SN take contact to the owner (most likely an ISP) of the IP-address (not stated in the above message) and make them aware of the hacking attempts from that particular IP-address? Otherwise, I would like to do it, but it would probably require some log files from the SN server, stating IP-address, times of log-in attempts etc. regards Korsfarer Mogens
  7. Glad that you send an email about this competition, but did you have to do it 14 times. 14 emails with the exact same content. A bit excessive, right?
  8. Hi EaglePrince! Sorry, but I've just seen your reply just now. I did a search for filenames (before your post), and I did find the directory. I also attempted to load the scenario, and then experienced something odd: I could not scroll right and down. It's a flaw described in the protondb (list of alle games and their playability using proton - on linux), and what is odd is, that in late '19, I did a full play-through of the SC trail, and didn't experience a problem. I'm not gonna fight that too, so I'm gonna wait a while, and then install a SC 1.1 version on my late wifes laptop with win7. Thanks for your patience!
  9. Hi EaglePrince! Downloaded your save file, but have a HUGE problem: I'm on Linux, and I can't find the folder for the save files in Stronghold Crusader. I've found save folder for other steamgames I've got, but simply can't find it for Stronghold Crusader. So unless someone can tell me where it's stored, I'm gonna give up on it.
  10. Well, I'm not so sure about that. It would be nice and easy, but I think something else will happen. If you tell all your xbowmen to shoot at one unit, then that's probably what they'll do. They'll all shoot at that one single unit, and once it is killed (will be very quickly) your xbowmen will revert to picking their own targets as they did before your intervention. That's what I meant by manually picking targets in this scenario will be practically impossible. But I don't know for sure. It will be nice if you have a save from your previous play-throughs that will let you investigate the matter easily. I will love to know for sure, and I suspect you will too?
  11. @Lord Chris: Thanks for fixing the link in the scenario description. @EaglePrince: Like you mentioned, the economic part of it is also meant to be entertaining, and it's the base that can secure a win in this scenario. But if players want to skip the build-up phase and use your castle, then good luck with that! :-) Well, I'm a bit surprised by that. It's deliberate that there's a lot of slingers in the scenario, and that they appear with other (higher ranking) units as well. In Stronghold Crusader, the enemy units are ranked, and your units will try to eliminate the highest ranking units first, if they have the chance. So if one of your archers have the option of shooting at either an enemy archer or an enemy slinger (one of the lowest ranked units in SC), he will choose the higher ranking unit, which in this instance is the archer. That's why the slingers are so "nasty" in this scenario. They get up close where they are very effective, because your ranged defenders concentrate on other more "valuable" units instead. If you want your units to choose another target, you'll manually have to do that,? and it's practically impossible in this scenario. So it's kind of a in-built "flaw"* of SC that I have utilized/exploited in this scenario. *The AI is too primitive to deal with such situations.
  12. Glad you finally succeded, EaglePrince! It is indeed not easy to win this scenario, and I don't think I've given anybody that impression, if they have read the accompanying text. And yes, players before you have succeded, but most have failed, and some even been upset by the huge force of Salah ad-Din. But I did warn them. I have won the scenario myself, even by losing less than 200 troops, and still having my castle intact (well, at least nearly intact). But I've also failed a lot of times! LOL I think the scenario pretty much nails the real battle of Jacobs Ford, and if you're not prepared, you'll feel the desperation that the knights templars felt, when they realized just how big Salah ad-Dins army was. Hope someone will be bold and courageous enough to make a YouTube video of him/her taking on this scenario. Would be nice to see how others approach the challenge, and it could possibly be a motivator for others to try, and hopefully beat, the scenario. Good luck, all you SC die hard fans!!! PS: There's a faulty link in the scenario description?, because this site decides to garble it for no apparent reason. I can't even give you the link here, as it is also getting garbled. If you search google for "vadum iacob research project", it comes up as the first result.
  13. Was gonna take the quiz, but then I needed javascript. Unfortunately, I had to disable javascript on the site because of the persistent snowfall. Maybe next time!
  14. Thanks, EaglePrince! I will take my time, and upload when things are ready, and not before. I had some extensive background story to one scenario, but the links are all dead, so I'll have to think of something before submiting to SN. I'm glad you liked Desert Breeze. U take care 2!
  15. Greetings Crusader1307! Thanks for your reply. I will begin repacking some scenarios for StrongholdNation. PS: I do know the procedure for upload as I have already had a scenario accepted for download on StongholdNation: Desert Breeze (unfortunately, I'm apparantly not allowed to post links, not even within StrongholdNation).
